Textured Hair Education
FoundationalOne DayThe Curl Code™
In one focused day, build the diagnostic language, cutting judgment, and standard of care that textured hair requires.
For licensed professionals who serve textured-hair clients, or intend to build that practice.

Overview
The Curl Code™ treats textured hair as a discipline in its own right, requiring its own diagnostic language, cutting logic, and standard of care.
Instruction moves from pattern and porosity assessment through dry and wet cutting judgment, definition, and the home regimen that sustains the result between visits.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion, graduates will be able to:
- Assess curl pattern, density, porosity, and elasticity to establish an accurate service plan
- Select cutting approaches appropriate to pattern, shrinkage, and desired shape
- Balance moisture and protein to support curl formation and scalp comfort
- Advise clients on a home regimen that preserves definition and integrity
- Recognize and address common causes of curl damage and pattern disruption
Evaluation
Faculty evaluation of pattern and porosity assessment, cutting decisions, and the regimen prescribed for a live or assigned case.
The Certificate of Completion is awarded on satisfaction of the Academy’s academic standards, not on attendance alone.

Who Should Attend
Professionals who serve textured clientele and wish to work from a disciplined diagnostic framework rather than product-led routine.
Admissions & Prerequisites
Applicants must hold an active cosmetology or barbering license in good standing, and demonstrate professional standing appropriate to advanced practice.
Prior experience with textured hair is recommended but not required. Space in each course is limited to preserve the quality of instruction and individual faculty attention.
Faculty
Led by SHINE-certified faculty with a minimum of ten years of professional experience behind the chair, selected for technical mastery, professional teaching experience, and demonstrated commitment to the standards of the Academy. Full faculty biographies will be published as instructors are confirmed for each course.
Credentialing
Graduates receive a Vivid Hue Academy Certificate of Completion in The Curl Code™, recognizing advanced professional training.
Continuing education credit hours, where applicable to state licensing requirements, will be listed on this page upon confirmation.
Academic Philosophy
Vivid Hue Academy approaches professional beauty education as a discipline, not a trend. Our curriculum is built on the belief that mastery develops through the deliberate integration of technique, theory, and practice — not repetition alone. Each course is structured to move professionals through guided demonstration, applied practice, and critical evaluation, ensuring that graduates leave not only able to perform a technique, but able to explain the reasoning behind every decision made behind the chair.
Course of Study
Courses are designated Foundational, Advanced, or Mastery. Designation reflects the depth of prior practice a course assumes, not the seniority of the professional enrolled.
